We have skied there in the past. We actually took the caravan and stayed on a site not far from the car park at the top. There are some superb runs. Equipment can be hired from shops in the main plaza which is accessed by lift from the carpark below. There are some good places to eat as well.
Sadly my wife broke her knee on the last run of the last day so we finished up in Granada hospital. Basic treatment is available at the top station. I hope you don't need it.
I think it's better than than Austria and the snow lasts longer.
Just one point to consider. The dates you are planning to go are Christmas and New Year holidays and it will be packed and everything is likely to be booked up early. There will be long queues at the buttons and lifts. No different to anywhere else.
