Does anyone have the correct email address for cancelling insurance policy with Linea directa.

I have sent up to 15 emails  to them and had no reply even had some come back as address not known even though it is on their own paperwork and some taken off their websites

Is this an insurance that you took out yourself or through your bank?

If you did it independently then did you do it through a local office or by phone?

Some Spanish insurance companies need at least 2 months notice to cancel insurance policies. They are not like UK where we can cancel and change insurances right up to the renewal date and are notoriously difficult to cancel.

When we wanted to cancel our Spanish home insurance because it kept going up, with no warning and not even a renewal email in advance, it was so difficult that we ended up having to stay with the company longer than we wanted to. The year we managed to get details of cancelling from the bank we did it about 4 months in advance by email to the bank and then we were told they needed signed letter through the post (we were in the UK then!) On the letter we said we need confirmation by email that they had received the letter and that we would still be insured up to the renewal date. Only then did we get a new insurance set up to start on the renewal date (with a UK company who insure holiday homes and send out renewal emails and allow cancellation on insurance up to the due date!...like all insurances should do!)

It was such a stress to sort out.

I suppose those that live all year in Spain don't find it so difficult to contact these companies and give them signed letters to cancel in the correct time needed but it still shouldn't be so difficult. Some insurance companies, particularly those affiliated to banks, in Spain should get up to date and not try to hold on to customers by not allowing them to switch easily! They hook people in when they are buying houses and then padlock the hook. LOL.

Good luck.

Just a thought I don't know if it would be of any help, but have you tried using their call back service? It may only be for new business but it might be a foot in the door for getting where you want to be.

I'm like Jan I use a UK company for my insurance I know exactly where I am with them.

Good luck

Spanish law says you need to give two months notice in writing, and an email isn't writing.

Some insurance companies don't insist on this entitlement, so you need to read the Ts & Cs of the policy to see what they require.

The only safe way to cancel a policy is a letter giving the two months notice, sent by carta certificada.

Oh my days I have just had a carry on with linea directa regarding my car insurance renewal! I phoned to cancel my renewal as the cost had risen so much, they told me because it was only a months notice that I had to carry on with my policy! My documents clearly state one months cancellation and I am still in the middle of this with the various departments trying to rectify these issues. I have found them to be incredibly rude and if I redial and speak Spanish to them the whole telephone conversation takes a completely different turn for the better!  I can give you a telephone number for them to get straight through to the relevant department if that helps you. I wouldn’t waste your time emailing them as from what I have found from experience they do not reply. Pm me if you need the number, hope this helps, Nicola:-)

Yes they are! The number is 902 325 325 9am to 7pm which is the English speaking line. There are other options available to press for uk residents I think. Just press which department you want for what insurance you have :-)
