Hi everyone, my wife and are looking to possibly relocate. We have been looking around the Quesada area, but have not seen anything and prices are higher than we expected.La Marina looks like a good option. So I would like to know what is good and bad about living in La Marina please.

I would very much appreciate anyone who lives in La Marina commenting.we are currently in La Mata for the next couple of weeks and would like advice on where I La Marina would be good to visit for advice

Thank you in anticipation

I can't help much, but I only refer to "relocate" & your selected options. To relocate to Spain is different to integration. Your suggestions "may" be looking for a UK type environment. I'm sure others may help. Good luck. V

Depends what you are looking for and if you want to integrate with Spanish families. To me Quesada is not Spanish but that’s just my opinion. We live in a small pueblo - Daya Nuevo. Housing is very reasonable and you have everything for day to day living, doctor, pharmacy, school, small supermarket, Ayuntamiento, all within walking distance. We are close to Benijofer, Rojales and a 20 minute drive to Torrevieja for bigger shopping centre. So as I said it depends what your priorities are. Happy huntinr

Quesada is a part of Rojales. Yes, it has a majority of foreign residents but Rojales is still very Spanish.

La Marina urbanisation has a mix of nations, with a quite a few UK residents. You have a mix of properties from compact one bedroom to upmarket detached at probably the best prices in the area.

More importantly,  it's a friendly environment where people will chat to you. There are loads of activities to participate in and build a circle of friends.

Thanks for your response. That sounds just the type of environment we are looking for, integration  with different nationalities is really important to us.We are currently in La Mata and thinking of visiting La Marina towards the end of next week. Can you recommend a good starting point for us please

By "different nationalities" that is mainly British and Irish. Around 80% of the population is non Spanish and about 80% of those are British and Irish. It has earned the nickname "Little Europe" in some Spanish press and the reputation of housing the largest English speaking estate in Europe outside the UK.

Do your homework by visiting as some say some parts are like living on a UK council estate. There are quite a few places like it but La Marina makes the press on a regular basis. The other half of San Fulgencio, which La Marina comes under, is mainly Spanish but a big distance between the two areas. Finding a place should be easy as there seems to be a Brit run estate agents on every other corner.

It sounds like you would like it. The first time I visited ( 26 yrs ago a in La Marina inmobliario). The first impression I got, was an English lady wearing hair-curlers shouting to her teen son on his bike in the street, "Come in now you little bu**ger, We're going out to' t pub! Your egg & chips are in the oven!" It may have changed. I rarely visited since. V

Hi Brian, you have 3 large estate agents, New Start, Smart Properties, Barclays on the Urb.

Plenty of things to get you involved...golf societies,  walking groups, walking football,  petanque etc. While visiting, ask around, you will find many people happy to help point you to someone who can assist.
