Hi everyone

We are looking to make the move to Spain and have come across a vast array of estate agents, some helpful, some not ..... Can anyone recommend a good straight talking estate agent.

Any recommendations for areas of urbanisations to look at ?

Thanks

Debbie & Jon

Some of the best ones are: Barclays,  Smart and Watsons.

I wouldn’t limit yourselves to just one or two, better to use Kyero and Zoopla searches to find roughly what you are looking for and then contact the agent listing the property.

You should never use a solicitor “recommended” by an agent, however much they say they are independent but find your own solicitor.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I've no doubt they're excellent estate agents Kevin, but Playa Flamenca is a long way from La Marina, and so they won't have local knowledge or experience.

Barclays (Watsons) have a long history of selling properties in La Marina, with all the knowledge and experience that goes with that, but you will need to clarify exactly what they are going to charge you, to avoid possible problems later.

These days, a more recently established agent called Smart Properties are very big in the area.

Also nowadays, a fairly new company - Newstart - are taking a lot of business, and seem to be doing a good job.

Send me a pm if you need more details.

Geoff.

I'm not a great fan of estate agents on the urb., but they do have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience which an agent in the village, good though they be, will just not have.

Only my opinion though, albeit formed over 15 years living here.

Geoff.

Hi everyone.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply. We are over in a few weeks so hopefully we may find our dream property with your helpful direction.

We’ve just used Barclays they did everything. Took us for I’d took us to the bank took us to the Notary and have advised us on so many things. We are now using Barclays builders for our extension. I cannot praise them enough
