Hi,

I wondered if anyone lives or has knowledge on the Calle Bilbao area on the 'Urb' near to the Hillside Bar/Su Casita.  I quite like the area here as it is close to the amenities.  I am thinking of viewing property in this immediate area of detached villas and hoping some of you guys may live or stayed in the area.

Any information good or bad would be much appreciated.

Ian

Hi Ian

I have a holiday home not too far from where you are considering looking on Calle Bilbao. I walk up to the area of Calle Bilbao that you refer to a few times a week during the daytime and I find it quiet. If it’s one of the houses on the main road ( there are lots of off shoots to Calle Bilbao leading to little areas that still come under Calle Bilbao) you will get some passing traffic coming on and off the Urb from/to Avenida San Fulgencio, also known locally as the forest road. I rarely walk in that area of a night but on the occasions that I have it has been quiet.

When we were taken by the estate agent to view prospective holiday homes, we returned by ourselves, later in the day and also in the late evening, to see if it was still quiet. We did this with all the properties we looked at and believe me some of the ‘quiet’ daytime area’s became noisy night time areas.

I wish you well in your search for your new property.

Regards

Anne

Thank you Anne for the very good information.

It is indeed the off shoot cul-de-sacs that I seem to be drawn to. I am intending to visit the area at different times of the day and night to get a feel for it and are looking for somewhere quiet and ideally with a small back garden and some parkland at the rear (I like my privacy).

Do you mean the areas become noisy due to bars etc. or the residents themselves?

Only a week until I fly out for 3 months so I should get a good feel for the area and hopefully find somewhere I like.

Regards

Ian

I find the whole area around the top of the Urbanisation very quiet, even at the weekends. About 5/6 years ago the pubs Dos Más and Lola Bar were absolutely packed at the weekend, but are now almost empty. July and August are maybe the exception but not a problem.

Good luck finding the right property.

Thank you again.  I really appreciate on the ground feedback, it is invaluable.

Is this the area known as Phase 1?

Regards

Ian

As Kenneth1 says that area is usually quiet, you don’t hear noise from the bars. We looked at properties within a 10 minute walk to bars etc. so apart from the fiestas, which weren’t a problem,  we never hear any noise. Some of the properties we looked at it was the residents that were noisy in the evenings, probably chilling out after working all day!

Yes it’s Phase 1

Hi, we moved into the area last year.  We use our house as a holiday home.

Since 2004 we had a house on the bottom road (Camino del Convenio) we have       always liked La Marina but as we’re getting older needed to be nearer to shops etc.

We are so glad we made the move. It’s so convenient and although we are only a few yards away from the bars it’s very quiet. We now have a small detached bungalow with a garden back and front and a small drive, it suits us perfectly. Good luck with your search. Susan

Hi Susan,

Thank you for the information.  I like the idea of being close to the amenities but was a little concerned about noise levels and drunken behaviour especially in the busier summer months.

I do read reports of problems with dogs and dog mess and also household rubbish being left lying around and wondered how true this is?

Regards Ian

Hello again,

We are not there in the summer. We haven’t noticed any dog mess either.

Occasionally there might be a singer in a bar, music or karaoke.

You need to remember that La Marina is classed as a residential area and they are not issuing Tourist Licences any more. There are just a few left with legitimate Tourist Licences.  With it being a residential area bars have to close at a reasonable time. Hope this helps. 😃 Susan
