Hi Musti and welcome to the forum,

I'm very sorry to hear of your troubles, that's not a good start to your new life at La Marina.

If you don't mind me asking, I have a few questions: Do you live on a Community of Owners, with a President and Administrators?  What nationality are you?  And what nationality are your neighbours?  Have they simply been saying unpleasant things about you to other neighbours, or are they directly harrassing you or your wife in any way?  Depending on what precisely is happening, someone may be able to help you resolve these difficulties informally, but if it's more serious, it is possible to make a "denuncia" (report) to the police, although that would be my recommendation of last resort.  Nevertheless, racism is illegal and you should not have to tolerate it.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Musti,

I'm so sorry that you and your wife are going through this, and I'm disgusted that it's a fellow Brit who is doing this to you.  Many of us do not share your neighbours' despicable opinions.

It sounds like you've already tried the things that I suggested, but if your racist neighbour wasn't even shamed by having to meet with the police, I doubt anyone else calling him out on his vile behaviour will help.

You are right that a Spanish community will be more welcoming - Spanish people don't share the sense of superiority and entitlement that, sadly, afflicts too many British people.  Your neighbour doesn't even seem to understand the stupidity of suggesting that you've "run away from your country", when exactly the same thing could be suggested about them!

I guess you have 2 options: sell up and move, or stay and fight against the racism.  Do you have other neighbours who are sympathetic to your situation?  Perhaps they could help by reporting the racism they witness to the police too?

It makes me angry that you could be driven out of your home by bigoted neighbours.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hello Musti

Like Kim I am absolutely horrified at what you have to endure, this is disgraceful, but not all British people are like this. I am so sorry.

If these people are making your life unbearable, and they are ignorant, racist and unpleasant, you may unfortunately have to move to another area. But is everyone in the area like this or only them?

If it is only them, you could try approaching your other neighbours to introduce yourselves, or perhaps write what we call in English a ‘round robin’ letter, which goes to everybody, explaining who you are, and perhaps invite people for a cup of tea or a beer. This is only a suggestion and I do understand that if the situation is the same with everyone, then this will not be a useful idea.

Please do not despair, we are not all the same. Good luck.

Regards

Hi Musti

I  too want to apologise on behave of your ignorant English neighbours & let you know we are not all the same, please don't think that way. I hate racism in all it's forms, it really hurts my heart but it just doesn't  ever go away does it?

You have had the best suggestions from other people so I can't add any more help except to say.....Your happiness is more important than the cost/inconvenience of moving again so do what you have to do to find that , maybe you could rent somewhere for a while, before you buy again .

Good Luck.

I hope you find peace and kindness where ever you  go to live.

Cheers

El  inspain
