My calor gas heater is giving less heat and more fumes than normal. I have stopped using it. Is a service or anything else likely to fix this problem? If so, can anyone recommend a tradesman and approximate likely cost? Im in La Marina San Fulgencio. Thank-you

Is it one with a gas bottle? If so, check the date on the pipe and replace if out of date. Also check the adapter which could need changing as well.

The rubber pipe tends to rot after a while and also make sure you have a CO2 detector near it.

Thank you. The hose does need replaced. I will do that. I think the regulator is OK, fairly new but I have a spare I will try that. But the smell is coming from the front of the fire not the back, maybe means nothing. Thank you

Just be mindful that they also put moisture in the air which over extended periods of time can cause dampness.

I would echo Marcliffe's advice to ensure that you have a carbon monoxide detector near to the gas heater and that the batteries are tested regularly.

Shut the appliance off immediately if you get the following symptoms: headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea and vomiting, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, seizures, chest pain and disorientation.

If this was me I would not put my health and life at risk for the price of a new heater. Not joking.

Cheers , J

It should be checked every 5 years and certificate supplied

Certificates and inspections are not required for portable free standing gas equipment such as gas fires and BBQs.

Thank you,as I said I have stopped using it but I wondered if someone could advise if this was an indication it needed serviced before I discarded it.

I'm aware thank you. I don't use it often and only for short periods of time
