Hello,

Is there anywhere on La Marina URB that we can we register on the Padron?

I understand we need to take copies of our passport and NIE documents, is there anything else we need to take long with us to get registered?

Can we get the registration document the same day

Thank you

You do not have to be resident in all areas to be on the padron!  In Rojales the council ask everyone to register as it brings more money into the community.

If it is good for the community surely this has to be a good thing!  the big problem is even some of the residents do not sign on and apparentely this is a big problem.   This is also why some areas stink as they do not get the funding to upgrade the sewerage sytems and it can not cope with the amount of holiday homes when the tourists are here but if they sign on the extra funds bennefit all.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The government get their money from taxpayers. That means it's me who's paying the councils the extra money they draw in by having on the padron the complete idiots who illegally register.

Thanks for the support, Kimmy.

jmatt, there's no need to apologise at all - just ignore the people who know the law but persist in encouraging others to break it.

Getting back to your original question, if you're now resident here, you do need to register on the padron.

I don't know if San Fulgencio town hall have an offshoot on the urb, but if not, as Kimmy said, you'll need to go to San Fulgencio town hall.

Town halls seem to set their own rules, and I don't know what yours requires. It may be that all you require is passport, NIE, deeds or rental agreement showing your address, and possibly a utility bill in your name. However, they may also ask you to produce residencia to prove you're officially a resident.

Provided they're happy with what you produce, they should issue a padron certificate while you're there.

If there was a previous owner of your property, they may well be on your padron as well. In theory the previous owner should do a 'baja' to remove themselves from the padron. In our case, the previous owners were indeed still on our padron. I asked Orihuela town hall, and they gave me a 'baja' form, which had to be returned with copies of the previous owners' passports and their signature. As the previous owners were back in the UK, this would have presented a problem. However, copies of their passports and signatures were in the escritura (deeds), so I was able to 'complete' the baja and present it.

Ref residencia, read the appropriate threads on this forum, and ask about anything you want clarifying. Before you ask, for residencia you'll need to go to the national police station in Elche. You could go to Alicante, but Elche is much less stressful.

I do not see how you can call people complete idiots for doing as the councils asks. By encouraging people to sign up it helps to improve the area therefore benefitting all residents and visitors.  If you want to be helpful  please try to do it without being so rude.

It doesn't benefit the people who have to pay for people who knowing break the law. And people who do so are, in my opinion, not only stupid but also inconsiderate.

If you don't like what I say, then report me to Jan, and let her take action against me. If she does so, then I'd point out that I don't have to be a member of this forum.

It is not just Rojales that do this.  Many councils in Spain do and if it is so ILLEGAL surely the Spanish government would stop it?  Sounds like your town is missing out!
