Good morning all.

Could anyone please advise with a concern we have. We filed the required documents for my wife's residency and have now received confirmation they have been accepted but she now has to complete the fingerprinting process which I understand could take a few months, my query is do we have to wait for the entire process to be completed or does they document we have received allow her to travel back to the uk for one week, we don't want to find ourselves in the position of being unable to return as the 90 days have well elapsed while going through the process.

I have my residency as an EU citizen and my wife is "piggy backing" on this.

                      Thank you in advance

Would you not be better posing this question with the relevant Spanish authorities who are dealing with your residence spplication? I doubt very much but open to be told otherwise, there are immigration lawyers on this Forum with an answer to your query.

Thanks for the reply John, I do take your point but I was wondering if anyone had first hand experience rather than a solicitor claiming it will be ok only to find it isn't, as we know with solicitor's, as with every trade, there are good ones and some not so good

I can confirm that your letter of confirmation will be enough proof that your residency has been agreed and until your TIE card is produced your passport will be your ID.

The same issue happened with a friend of ours and they had no problems at the Spanish border.

Hello

Why do you think the fingerprint process takes so long, or is it getting an appt. in Alicante that you think might delay you?

At the height of the exchange process pre Brexit ( Nov/Dec 2020) I was  helped by a great Gestor & dealt with very swiftly.... from taking  all my docs+ doing fingerprints & then  going back for my TIE  card ,  the time was  approx   3weeks.

If you do need help, this is who I used www.getlegalinspain.com ( they took me to Alicante both times)

Cheers

Hi, I have been informed there is a delay/ backlog in the fingerprint appointments and no firm idea of how long it could take, I was speaking to one chap who has been waiting couple of months although his is a renewal not first time application

From what I understand, the appointment difficulties seem to be for people who are arranging this for themselves. For the minimal cost of a Gestor, around 20 euros, it’s worth employing one as they have access to block bookings allocated to them, or to booking systems apparently not available to others. Worth a query?

Great advice, Stephanie.

For what it's worth, It's a good idea to use a gestor, Gestoria for any dealings with Extranjería, Tráfico, and any other official offices. Most of the Spaniards do, and so do I and all my bilingual friends.

It is absolutely not necessary to use a lawyer.

Good luck, cheers, J

Hi Stephanie, we have only been in Spain for six months and were very green when we arrived so we booked a package through the solicitor we used for the house purchase, as you say using a gestor is the best option but you live and learn.

                    Thank you for the advice
