Hi John,

If your partner qualifies for Spanish healthcare as a dependant on your S1 that's a good start.  She then needs to show a monthly income of Eu 462 or a lump sum of Eu 5,540 in a Spanish bank account for a minimum of 3 months.  These figures were issued by the Foreigners' Office in Alicante, so you shouldn't be receiving conflicting advice on that point.

The UK government has set up a "UK Nationals Support Fund" to help citizens obtain residency in Spain - for this region, you can contact:

Babelia (Alicante, Valencia and Castellon)

One of our members, Mags, used Babelia and was very impressed with their service, which I believe she said was free and very efficient.

Kind regards,

Kim
