Hi. The annual Suma always gets automatically debited from my account around the first week in September. This year it has not gone through yet. Does anyone know if there is a delay this year and has anyone had the same issue?

Due to COVID19 the dates for payment of the Suma has been put back, it is due to be paid by the 6th November and the direct debit will be made on the 2nd of November.

Not sure if you're based permanently in Spain or the UK but if it's the latter, it may be worth checking that your Spanish account's not been frozen, pending the completion of Tax Residency Status forms.

Ours has & I'm currently struggling to get the bank to accept scanned copies in order to unfreeze the account.

Thankyou John,  that is really helpful. I wasn't aware of the deferral, and was worried that something had gone wrong at my end and I'd be chased for arrears. Best regards. Lee.

Mine has always been around the first week in October. I wouldn't worry, they are probably running a little late this year due to having been closed down with the pandemic and are just catching up with backlogs.

If you are concerned, pop into the Town Hall in San Fulgencio and ask them. The Suma section is he small office on the right of the main entrance. They do speak english there if you need it.

Hi Cliff,

The SUMA and Non-Residential Tax are two separate bills. Came as quite a shock to me after three years of holiday home ownership that there was another annual tax I ought to have been paying! Lol.

Hi. Yes. We are non residents. The amount debited last September (which was entitled "Suma")  was €445, but it seems it's been deferred this year. I think the non residents tax goes through in December.
