Any advice on energy suppliers? Looking to see who’s  the best for supplying electric? Tariffs etc.

I use a price comparison website once a year, and so far, every year for a few years now, Iberdrola's "Plan Noche" has been pretty much the cheapest.

I have heard a lot of bad stories from people who have gone with Iberswitch, or with other energy suppliers.

Personally, I feel much more comfortable being with the company that owns all the equipment anyway.

This is a link to the price comparison website that I use:

I have Iberdrola and use the Plan de Noche recommended by Jim who writes and advises a lot on this Forum.   My electric bill has gone down from 230 Euros per month to 77 Euros per month.   Try the Plan de Noche and save money.

One question usually leads to another.

I have never heard of Plan de Noche. Can someone tell me how it works and how to swop to it?

Is it similar to the UK's Economy 7?  I only run two fridges at night so there may not be any advantage in it for me.

Plan de Noche advice.

The Plan de Noche differs in times from Summer to Winter times.   Cannot remember exactly which is which but one gives you cheaper electric from about 11pm at night until 12 noon the next day and the other give you cheap electric from 11pm at night until 1pm the next day - times are very rough.

So if you change to Plan de Noche you obtain a large amount of cheaper electric in the mornings when you are usually cooking or cleaning or doing washing of clothes etc.   You obviously pay more for the afternoon electric than you would for the evening electric when you are using the Plan de Noche cheaper electric.

You simply go to the Ibiderdrola office and ask to change to the Plan de Noche, they do it for you there and then.   It seemed to work within three days of my signing up for it.  My bills used to be 240 Euros per month and are now 77 Euros per month but then I have a swimming pool and air conditioning which are now all running on cheaper electric as is the dish washer and the washing machine, the vacuum is used in the morning when the electric is cheaper, so either way you will save electric on the Plan de Noche even if you do not use a lot of electric in the night time as you are still getting cheaper electric until 11am or 1pm.   Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for that. Super advice and quick too.

The cheaper periods are longer than the UK, so, as you say, you can take advantage of the longer period in the morning.

I am glad of that because I would not fancy getting up at midnight to turn things on. Unlike the UK none of my appliances have a delay timer and need a push on a button to fire them up, so you could not used a plug-in timer.

Do Iberdrola advise you of the cheaper periods?

Yes, you get a print out of the prices of the cheaper periods and the more expensive periods.   You also get a piece of paper with two clocks on, one for winter times and one for summer times.   The clocks have red and green shaded areas and give you the the times on the red and on the green for which is the Plan de Noche times, it is very easy to understand.

Don't worry it has a clock face with black markings on, also they will explain to you the hours so you can write it down.

Where is the nearest Iberdrlo office if I’m in la marina? Thanks
