Hello, just wondered if anybody has ever had problems with the water company Hidraqua and whether these were easily sorted out? Plus do you have to pay bills direct debit? Plus is there another water company which can be used?

I've never had any problem with them. As far as I'm aware you aren't necessarily obliged to pay by direct debit but, as billing is in arrears, I think it's reasonable of the company to request this - especially for non-residents.

Unlike the electricity supply, you can't swap water suppliers.

Hi 👋 Jim, I do agree with you, but my water is currently shut off...I did have an outstanding amount which I’ve paid all off, but before I agree to direct debit, I’d like my water switched back on, I’m happy to pay any bills through this online banking service which they offer till then...

Thank you for the helpful reply!

We called to Hidraqua from the Uk. They had installed the wrong meter at our property and we were initially put on commercial rates when we purchased the house. They sorted it very quickly and on the next bill we received a credit. Can't fault the service and they have English speaking customer service reps. We pay be did.

That’s good Mary! Ive been in contact with Hidraqua and spoken to English customer reps, but it got all a bit messy paying this outstanding balance- but I’ve done it now, but I just don’t want to do any direct debits till my water is reinstalled, think I might have to go to the nearest office...or speak to somebody higher than customer services..who do you think that might be?

Do you still have any one legal that you can call on? We were lucky they sorted it straight away. Have you gone to the nearest office? They may be able to help. As we don't live there permanently I tend to use neighbours to help me if we don't understand anything or need help.

I have got a legal person in Spain who really helped me out regarding Hidraqua, and both me and them communicated with her, she’s the one who informed me that Hidraqua wants me to sign direct debit forms..she’s aware that my water been cut off, she’s also aware that I have now paid the full amount to Hidraqua...

You seem pretty knowledgeable Mary, do you think I should let her know that I want my water reinstalled before I sign direct debit forms or should I speak to somebody higher up in Hidraqua or should I go direct to Hidraquas office in San Fulgencio?

Maybe best tell the legal person, and if no joy go to Hidraqua s office??
