Hi Friends

We will be arriving to take up permanent residency soon and would like to know best place to get the following

Decent garden shed reasonable size about 8x10 also is timber or metal better? might consider buying something second hand if anything available.

Also I need to get a workstation type desk.

thanks all.

Steve.

Assuming that's 8ft x 10ft that's about 7.2 sq metres so you will need planning permission from your town hall. There is an exemption for anything under 5 sq metres but it still has to be registered with the ayuntamiento planning office. There will be a minor works fee to be paid and it could also increase your council tax (IBI) as extra space.  You may also need permission from your community of owners to erect one in your garden.

Leroy Merlin do both wooden and metal ones but wooden ones are quite expensive. We're talking of a galvanised steel or hard plastic at around 2 to 300 euro but a wooden one around 1,000 euro or more.

Plenty of places that do desks, Hnos Garcia, Carrefour, Leroy Merlin, JYSK and others.

Thanks Marcliff.

well it looks lie its going to be 5sq metres then in that case

Our place in on la marina urb which I don't think is a community but does have ayuntamiento so I will speak to them.

we had a look in JYSK when we were there last in June so that's OK then.

Thanks for the advice.

You seem to be well informed so may I make a further enquiry. We need to get a car at some point. We currently have a 15 year old Citroen C4 LHD but on uk plates. would we be able to part chop this somewhere for a Spanish registered vehicle or would we get a better price if we got this put on Spanish plates first. I spoke to a guy in San Fulgencio who told me it would cost about €1200.

thanks

Steve.

A LHD car on UK plates? I don't think it would be popular as people buying UK reg cars to take home will be looking for RHD ones. Depending on what is needed (headlights dipping the wrong way - reversing lights and so on) then it could cost up to 1200 euro to get it done. But it would be much more sellable if on Spanish plates.

I would think virtually everywhere in La Marina Urbanisation would have a community of owners. Some with just a block or two of houses whilst others could be many houses. Someone has to pay for the private lighting, if you have swimming pools someone has to pay for the upkeep, the water, the checking and so on. Do you pay community fees? Anyway, most places will have a community with associated committee which is pretty mandatory here on behalf of all owners regarding shared areas and services.

Thanks once again for the advice..

we have had a place on the Urb for about 10 years now this is our second one. As far as I am aware we have never paid community fees.

just suma and non res tax along with normal domestic bills. I will investigate further. I will also check further into the car situation,

Thanks once again.

Steve
