I understand vaccinations will be free for everyone in Spain but can anyone let me know how we get registered to be called.  We are applying for residencia, I have registered but not received final paperwork 8 weeks to receive. My husband still waiting.  Any information gratefully recieved. Thank you

I understand that you don't actually register to be called for you vaccine. When you have successfully registered for your healthcare at the local clinic you will be added to the list. I read an article on another site that says over 65's won't get the vaccine.

You don’t have to have your final stage T I E. just register on the padron and let the health centre know your Nie and address. The government are giving everyone the vaccine regardless of private health care or any other problems even illegal immigrants are getting it , tourists are the exception! They don’t get it.

Steve

It’s only the AstraZeneca vaccine that won’t be given to 55/65+ (depending on article you read). There are other vaccines available for older people.

So how do you go about registering if you don’t qualify as yet and have private health insurance.

Hi Steve I thought the 65 cut off for the vaccine was in the Uk not here in Spain.

As I’m 80 yrs old I would like to know for sure, where do you think you saw it.

The link to the article in El Pais is in tebo53 post above.  It states that Spain is not giving the Astra Zeneca vaccine to the over 65s - & possibly the over 55s- but there will be other vaccines available to that age group in due course.

In the UK the Astra Zeneca vaccine continues to be given to all ages .

cp Astra and Pifzer vaccines on first dosage give 65% protection, second dose 79% to 84% protection in all ages according to article published today. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9243101/Pfizer-Covid-jab-offers-two-thirds-protection-against-virus-one-dose-new-data-set-show.html.

I believe the reason for EU countries reluctance to use the AstraZeneca vaccine was a lack of data involving the over 60's however the above study seems to back up the assertion that they were both safe for all ages, with, along with most other vaccines, less protection for those with underlying health problems.
