We are in the process of buying a holiday apartment in La Mata. Please could you let us know where the best place is to buy furniture, bedding, electrical, etc as although apartment is furnished we may need to buy little extras. We are new to La Mata so but are not sure which shops are best.
Hi Joanne
Sorry meant to thank you before! That’s really helpful. Hoping to get keys end April. We now know that although the apartment will be fully furnished but will need bedding, plates/cups, glasses and kitchen utensils etc. Haven't a clue where to get these from but was thinking of getting a taxi and getting stocked up from a commercial centre or somewhere similar in or near La Mata? Any suggestions please.
Thank you.
Trish
Thank you! Yes a little stressful but have a good lawyer who had been amazing, it’s all very new and exciting!
Sounds like a trip, or two, to Torrevieja and taxi back. I love IKEA too. We’ve seen the hardware shop on the High Street. We are near the end of La Mata just past the square.

We also have an apartment in La Mata. On one of out first visits we had a hire car and drove to Ikea where we picked up all of our dishes, cutlery, glasses, pots, pans etc. We bought our bedding, towels and tea towels in Primark in La Zenia and they are lovely quality. We also got electrical goods in a store in the boulevard and we bought beautiful beach towels in La Mata market. We later ordered online [while in the UK] from the Murcia Ikea store and arranged delivery on a trip over. We got a table and chairs for the balcony, long wall mirrors and some cube storage units. [We went to our local store in the UK to check out the balcony furniture to ensure it was what we wanted and would fit.] We were rather anxious about delivery but were able to select a date and approx time and on the day we got a phone call when delivery was 10 minutes away. It couldn't have gone any better though the delivery men only spoke Spanish which I understand. I can honestly say that it was all pretty stress free and we got everything that we need. Good luck with your shopping.
Hi Bobbie
Thank you so much that is really helpful. I’ve heard that Primark is good for bedding etc. We will probably hire a car for a couple of days, have you any recommendations of car hire in La Mata and cost? Thanks again for your tips!

Unfortunately I can't advise on car hire. We just went with Drivalia from the airport. My neighbour at home recently told us about an English guy who does car hire without all of the extra charges and will meet you but I haven't got the details yet. I'll ask and let you know. We are flying over on Sunday for 5 days but just using a taxi as not going too far.
Thank you that would be great.
Hi Trish,
Welcome to La Mata, its a great place to have a holiday home. We bought ours last October and are enjoying every minute. Just to echo what has already been said, we bought a lot of household items from Primark and furniture/beds from Conforma both in La Zenia. If Ikea is your thing, and you know what you want then they have an outlet/ordering store in the Habeneras. If you order there, the delivery costs are cheaper than online or from the Murcia store so worth popping in. Re car hire, we have been using Centauro from the airport and have had no problems with them.
Good luck with your move in April

Hi Richard
Thank you for your help, really useful to know where to buy things.
Can't wait to come over in April to collect our keys (fingers crossed). La Mata seems such a lovely place for a holiday home.
Trish
Try El Castro on Cortes Valencia's, we bought a lot from them, great value and well worth a visit.
