Where do I go in la nucia/Polop to get a contract for repsol or any other gas supplier to enable me to buy a bottle of gas?

You can just buy a second hand bottle and then exchange it for a full one at any garage or other gas supplier.

As Gordon says, buy second hand, they often crop up on here and you may have someone reply who has one for sale.
You don't need a contract for a barbeque or a portable gas fire, only fixed installations such as a hob or boiler.

Get accessories, i.e. connector, pipe etc. from any better "Ferreteria" or superstore (Carrefour) for an apple and an egg. Sometimes self entitled "gas inspectors" may ring at your door usually wearing a blue overall and a red pipe reel on their shoulder. It's a scam. don't let them in. As long as you have no gas contract, nobody knows that you use gas.

Just go up the hill turn left at the last roundabout and go to the car boot on the industrial estate at Polop.  It runs every Sunday and there are always bottles for sale.  Buy the one that matches your nearest renewal point. You can buy butane or propane it does not matter and the regulators are the same, unlike the UK.

For ease of handling go for the shiny stainless ones from Cepsa. They are the lightest.  Repsol ones weigh a ton.
