Hi,

I became a resident in Spain January 5th this year 2022.

I sold my house in the UK in September 2021.

Will the profit from the sale of my house be part of tax returns in Spain?

I only ask as I've been asked for all my finances for 2021 by a financial advisor. Although I didn't become resident un this year.

Thanks..

I don't think that you have to declare the amount you received from the house sale as you were not tax resident in 2021.

I moved to Spain in September of the year and didn't need to declare the sale of my house in the UK.

Thanks  that's what i believed to be true?

Guess I'd better ask my advisor why he needs this info?

Thanks again...

Hi Saltydog,

You weren't tax resident in Spain in 2021, so by all means ask your tax advisor why they want the information, but in your position, I wouldn't give it to them - and depending on your advisor's answer, you may need a new advisor!  I'd be interested to hear what their response is......?

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kim, that's what I thought!

As usual, nothing gets done over the weekend and after 2pm every working day ..

So, basically the advisor apologised as its only non-resident tax I have to pay this time for 2021.

At least he got back to me first thing this morning I guess .....

Thanks for the update Saltydog.  It just goes to show that you can't even trust some of the so-called advisors 🤔
