We have owned a home in la romana for approx 18 months .

And spent around six months there last year .lastly in November last year we have been keen to get back to maintain the house and pool .

We have tentatively booked the Eurotunnel on the 3 July to drive through France staying in Bierittiz for three days for my 70th birthday before driving on to Spain .

I think we would have waited a little longer apart from my birthday and our family hoping to come out later in July and August !

What do you think our chances are to achieve this !

IE travelling through France ,entry and travelling through Spain

Hi Richard,

Spain is currently planning to welcome tourists back from 1 July, from countries that have got the Covid-19 infection rate under control, i.e. Germany and the Nordic countries, so I think a lot will depend on what the UK can do over the next few weeks.  Friends of ours arrived at their property in San Fulgencio last week: they came over on Eurotunnel and then travelled down to the La Jonquera border crossing.

We did the route from Roscoff via Biarritz when we moved over in 2016.  I'd recommend a lovely hotel where we stayed in Biarritz, with private parking hidden around one side of the property, and walking distance to some great restaurants:

I hope things progress well and that you're able to make it over on 3 July.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Kim

Thank you Kim for your reply,

That seems to be the key to everything ,the U.K. getting the infection rate under

Control !

So will have to wait and sit on our hands till virtually the end of the month,

Thank you for telling us about the hotel, we well know about parking in Bierittiz from past experience .so have provisionally booked at the Radisson blue which also has parking.

Fingers x we can come in July.

Regards

Richard

Great Choice! Fabulous village La Romana, now getting back to life little by little under the phased return to non-lockdown status (note I avoided the use of the word normal! Normal will not be as we once knew it!)

Personally, I am awaiting the 3rd week of June to work out what is likely to happen in July and a little more date specific.

That said, I see a post recently about Jet2 cancelling flights until 15th July?!

Good luck with your return

Thank you

Least things seem bit more optimistic now ,

As you say accepting a new normal,  be a fact of life !

At least for the foreeable future.

Hi Jan

My daughter is much younger than yours so I can only pass on third-hand knowledge I am afraid! I understand that there's maybe a solution in Novelda, but for a 'good English speaking school' you will likely to have to go private in Alicante. That is the nearest one I know.

Is the English requirement about your need, your daughters need? ie Is it because neither of you speak Spanish etc?

I can put you in touch with a friend of mine from the village who has an older son and she may be able to help, if you want to PM me your details I can put you in touch with her.

Hope it helps
