The mini market is beside the restaurant/bar at the tennis club, just up from the stables. You'll only get basics in there, very much doubt they bake their own bread, run by miserable Brits (when I've been in there anyway! ) I would go to Mas y Mas in La Xara

tClare and Harold are not miserable, just take some time to get to know them. They buy in Croissants and Bread ready prepared and then cook.

Hi Steve, my comment may have been harsh as it was based only on 3 visits over two years, and those were over a year ago. I believe the store was up for sale, not sure if Clare and Harold were the couple who were looking to sell it or are new owners in the last couple of years.
But on the visits I made I got the impression the owners didn't want to be there and there was little in the way of acknowledgement, smile or thankyou for the transactions. I don't think you should have to get to know owners for those to be in place. If I have used an old experience to describe new owners then please convey my apologies.
Having said that it's not an issue which should put people off La Sella, it's a lovely place as long as you accept the reliance on a car, and a lack of integration into a real Spanish community. I was initially considering La Sella for retirement but I'm glad I decided to choose a Spanish community instead. Here in Beniarbeig I can walk to 7 bars/restaurants, a mini market, a bakers, a butchers, a doctors surgery, a pharmacia, seamstress, florist, a post office, a cash point, and the town hall, so I don't need to take the car out unless I want to. There are also nice walks in and around the village. People acknowledge me in the street, in bars etc, and it has made my transition from the UK to Spanish life much more fulfilling. All that isn't a criticism of La Sella, more just to point out the contrast.
Best regards, Steve
