Had anyone had any problems with BBVA putting a block on your account. We have banked with them for twenty years. Last month we had an email in Spanish  saying we will block your account send us your passport details. Not being sure if it was a scam I replied asking  for more information and if possible English. We heard nothing. Last week our direct debits started to fail.  We have been in contact but not getting very far. My husband is having to go out. Can anyone recommend a good bank that has English help lines. It

Good evening to you Christine...

There is something VERY peculiar going on here with banking services...

Should you have been following MY case with 'The Bank'..I ALSO have been 'locked out' of my on-line account!

Despite MANY emails of complaint, I have NOT reached ANY conclusion on this!

The lovely Kimmy has been a tremendous help to me, but alas..NO progress whatsoever!

We MUST find a solution in all of this, could it be with 'Brexit'?

It sounds like blatant discrimination to me!

What the hell do we do...'Official' bodies have NO interest in this, and for anyone who may be facing the same dilemmas, we must unite and call for JUSTICE!

PLEASE keep us updated..Thank you...🅱️.

Oh dear!!!

I have an account with BBVA for my mortgage and all my direct debits.

I've been with them for nearly 14 years and never had any problems with them.

This seems to be happening with other people's Bank accounts in different banks too.

However, I do get a call from them every few years to call in and check all is ok and up to date.

Sorry, I'm not sure what's going on, maybe new terms and conditions ???

Sue 😘

Most likely a scam do not click on any links in the emails. Would suggest go to your bank and talk to the manger or  the website to check out your direct debits.

We received a letter and message when I logged onto account to go to our bank DB with our TIE / Passport etc to verify  our account message stated it was with reference to money laundering or they would block, our account which happened about 3 years ago when we were in Croatia in our motor home but they only sent the letter to our home but no one was there, account was blocked and  we could not use Spanish € card but fortunately we had our UK card with us.

When on a Aire in France I could not pay with my UK CARD and had to give cash to one of the locals to use there card to get me out,

Recommend you take your ID documents to bank so they can photo copy .

Hi Christine,

If you're non-resident, it's a requirement of all Spanish banks that they verify your ID every 2 years.  Even as Spanish residents, my husband and I have had to verify our ID earlier this year, which leaves me thinking it was Brexit-related.

I'm with Sabadell and this verification can be done via their mobile app.  If you're in any doubt about the validity of the email you've received, forward it to BBVA's fraud department:

Kind regards,

Kim

I got blocked from my account with La Caixa in Los Montesinos a few days ago, I went in yesterday and the young lady very kindly gave me a new code number, seems a lot of banks are doing it.

Bonjour Gill...Now, THAT is the 10.000 dollar question!

Could it be a 'conspiracy', known only to themselves?

As I said earlier, there IS something cooking here, let's hope that they don't get burned!

I was blocked from my Bankia account last year.   I contacted my account manager who advised that a letter had been sent out (it was not received) as they needed to see my husband’s passport - we were joint account holders.   This was not possible as my husband had passed away and I had not changed to an account solely in my name.   I had to go to the bank to visit my account manager with the necessary documentation and everything was sorted very quickly.    I have to say that the person who deals with my account is so helpful and easy to contact via the bank’s website and speaks very good English.
