Be careful reducing the tariff. This is different to the UK. It's a fixed charge for the maximum power you can use at any one time. 5.95 is about 25Amps.

With the new smart meters they will switch off your power if you exceed the tariff you're set to. There is a bit of tolerance in it but not an awful lot.

We were on 4.4kW in Torre, didn't have a clue how it worked over here (the circuit breaker had been replaced with a higher one to stop it tripping out). In January we got a smart meter and couldn't understand why the meter kept going off.

Because we need to go UP we're having to have a lot of electrical work done to get a certificate that allows us to increase the tariff.

If you do get issues with the meter tripping out, switching off the power inside for 5-10 seconds should reset it.

Thank you very much for your kind information as we will keep in mind before we go for a change like a said we hardly stay in our app for more than 2 weeks in six months and we have never used air cond as we have ceiling fans. However it is good to consider all options. Thanks.

Cracked it...called in the office, complained and immediately they offered me a different tariff....instead of paying 0.15cents per kWh....we now switched to 0.14c during the day (1pm to 1pm) then....0.6c from 11pm until 1pm. So, aircon comes on after 11pm and so does the washing machine....massive savings!! (Washing machines use a hell of a lot of electric as they're cold feed and need to heat up the water btw.)
