Hi we are taking possession of our new build at the end of March and are looking for best way to watch English tv. We have previously used Modbro on our hudl but this does tend to freeze at times, would a fire stick be a better option and what broadband company would be a good one.  It is a holiday home but I would say we will be there 9 or 10 months a year but not more than a week at a time, so debating whether to opt for pay as you go.  We have visited a shop in the Boulevard that does this.  Any advice please.

Carol

We use a Firestick, attached to our UK Amazon Prime account. We use overplay.net to make it work. Our internet provider set it up for us.   overplay.net costs $5 USD per month.

Amazon TV works well, as does UK catchup (All 4 etc).

Live TV can buffer quite badly.

Netflix (our UK account) is unreliable.

As our UK Amazon & Netflix costs are already paid, this TV service only costs us an extra $5 USD per month, so we are happy with it, but it isn't great.

I used to use filmon, but since they now have to charge, I now use either: https://easyview.eu/ or https://www.firstone.tv/Live/United-Kingdom free service.
Although both are subject to buffeting sometimes, I often have both open on my computer ans switch between the 2 when that happens.

Just in case you need to know....Overplay is a VPN, lets you decide what country your in!!

I use Sky on a 1.8mtr dish and get the full package excluding some ITV HD which I watch on SD channels. I have a subscription but you can get freeview that way.

I also use a Firestick / Fire TV box which allows me to use Amazon Prime UK & Netflix UK through my broadband. I also have a VPN Router which gives me access to catch up on Sky and also (pending on the country selected ) I can access Netflix US, Hulu, CBS etc..

These are dependant on the Broadband speed which I currently get 80-90Mb through a Movistar package.

That is not to mention the handful of Spanish channels you can switch to original audio and watch in English.

Hope that helps

If you are travelling back and forth from the U K and subscribe to Sky, then you canbring your sky box with you....not sky Q.   We always travel with Easyjet  Speedy Boarding as they permit you to carry a cabin bag and another eg computer bag which holds the box perfectly. At home, we pay for multi room because our son was living at home and we did not want to leave him without sky..hence 2 boxes. My husband needs his sport channels and this is our main reason for using this system.

Alternatively, if you have an old box you could use it to provide all the English channels...basic. We do not have an enormous dish, possibly 1.3 meters.

We have a sky dish in our mobile home too...bring the box, connect up and hey presto, Home from home.  We pay sky well over a hundred pounds a month for the privedge of having multi room, telephone, fibre optic internet etc. So it would be foolish for us to pay more money while we are here and there is nobody at home to enjoy all the extra we have already paid for.

Many people bring their boxes with them...no problems at security in the airport. Please update and tell us what you decide to do as we are always interested.

I obtained a Hybrid Wideband LNB from Sky and have Sky Q. you have to spoof your IP address or use a VPN to get it to fully work though.

Very interesting indeed. Do you bring the box with you too?   Please explain about the address and how you manage to connect to a different WiFi company, surely they must know where the box is being used.
