Although not currently in Spain I am hearing conflicting reports on the future availability of Sky Sports Channels in Spain. Word has it that Sky are going to block their Channels being received on the Continent. We currently have our TV service through Nortons in Los Dolses and are wondering if the reports are true, also if true will it also affect Bars that show Sky Sports on multiple screens.

If it is true it will affect Bars. Also if it is true it will be a technology game of cat and mouse between Sky etc and the illegal providers. For those expats not familiar with Spain, most of what you hear is gossip, opinions and little fact.

It could be true, so no more 10 from Len, but plenty of Spanish quiz shows, plus Spain's got talent.

I am aware of how rumours circulate and get expanded but the first I heard of this was on the BBC News Website.

Sorry I don't have the link and can't find it. I am not sure if it will affect the TV services or if it applies to steaming services.

Sky Sports via satellite will be available in Spain, they are now, and will be for the near future. The only way they can stop their channels transmitting to the continent is by moving their channels on to a very very very narrow beam that only covers the UK...the current batch of uk tv satellite do not have this capability.

(Perhaps the rumours came from the recent increase in sky encryption which took their channels of the cardshare system,s (ie cheap sky via satellite using the internet to unlock the channels).)

UKTV via internet, iptv, third parties etc may not be... it will be a cat and mouse game between the broadcasters and these providers, as they chase and close down these avenues.

No problem Susie, I am just another user but if you are trying to sell something it should be posted under the Buy and Sell tab, John.
