Please understand that the wearing of masks in the U.K. while shopping has only recently been implemented. We returned from Spain last night and I for one was never so glad to take my mask off. Yes, mask wearing is a good idea if we are all in close proximity but I cannot see the need to wear a mask when walking from your house to the bins in the heat of the day with nobody anywhere near you.
You all say that you feel safer in Spain and I can understand why. You are not being bombarded with the numbers of people testing positive with Covid the way we are at home, it’s relentless. All it does is frighten us.
We flew in at 7.30pm and I ‘phoned to alert my daughter. We walked out of the airport and she drove up in our car and jumped our and got into the car behind which was driven by her husband. We did manage a quick look at our darling grandson and were rewarded with a big smile. The boot was full of lovely fresh food that she had picked up in M&S including some yummy supper items. I’m still in bed as there is no rush. I have had my breakfast as usual while I take things easy and now we have 14 days of doing whatever we like! We really enjoyed our time in Torrevieja, sad to see so few people about in the restaurants but after we got used to this were fine. We would have stayed longer but family commitments dictated that we come home sooner to get our quarantine over. My husband was very loath to travel over to Spain initially but believe me, he soon relaxed and settled himself and loved every minute while there.
Anyone who can quarantine at their leisure should pack their bags and go. I am so happy that we went. I wish they simply checked us at the airport ( test) like they do in Germany but highly unlikely as that would be too easy.
At passport control, We were asked if we had completed our health checks and said that we had.
Quarantining is MANDATORY. Why do people think that because someone didn’t look at their form or ask to see them, then ,no need to bother? We all MUST quarantine, no arguing but sadly, there are those who will not obey the law and this is a positive shame.
A holiday in the sun is wonderful but you must adhere to the law and stay at home for the necessary 2 weeks. Thank goodness we are old!
