We sold our property and car and returned to UK permanently in February , closed our Spanish account. We have received, via our Spanish lawyer, the car Suma which was due May, are we being unreasonable to ask the new owner to pay Suma? I appreciate that as the owner on 1st January we are legally responsible but we only had car for 6 weeks. Also how do we pay when we are back in UK?

Hi Jan,
To pay the bill online, go to https://www.suma.es/
Then, from the 'Taxpayers' drop down menu at the top, select 'Pay Online' - you'll need the reference number from your bill. As you've missed the deadline for paying (which was extended to mid June because of Covid-19), your reference number may not work; in which case, probably best to ask your lawyer to do it for you.

It should do Jan, a friend in the UK pays here IBI (Council Tax) using her UK card. If it doesn't work, it's more likely to be because the deadline for payment has been exceeded.

Our ultimate dia de Pago is 5th August so hopefully we can still pay, my problem is that our Spanish bank account is closed

Got onto Suma.es but can’t see way of using uk card only Spanish card😱

Hi Jan,
I've messaged my friend in the UK to find out how she did it. She runs a hotel, so may take a little while to get back to me, but I'll update you as soon as I have a response.
In the meantime, have you tried calling your local SUMA office or using their online chat - they're open until 14:00 today:

Thanks Kim, I have managed to pay with my uk card. I had to click on “ rest of cards’ in payment box, simple really, bit like myself.😀
