Driving lessons to build confidence

Hi everyone, looking to purchase a property in either La Zenia or Ciudad Queseda once we have the opportunity to come over. Problem is, I have never driven in Spain,despite having drove for over forty years in the UK, I'm feeling a little nervous. I know being able to drive enables you to explore, and really enjoy Spain with that added independence. Is there any driving school which provide a package of confidence building lessons ,preferably with enlish speaking instructors.

Any advice would be greatly received.

Hello

I answered this question recently.... a friend I know here with a holiday home tried to book some of these type of lessons for her husband. She found out( from the places she contacted) - they only gave these lessons in your own car, not instructors car & most driving instructors spoke very little english. I don't know who she contacted & there might be exceptions to this but ... they rented a small car & he was making progress & doing well on his own- before Covid stopped their visits.

You can do it on your own with a little self-confidence and a few basic rules: stay on your right and enter roundabouts counterclockwise. On intersections, turning right keep close to the sidewalk, turning left hit for the "other side" of the road i.e. perform an "open arch". Start at 5 am when there is poor traffic and take your time. And in cases of doubt - don't do it.

Thank you very much for all the advice on the subject. I'm going to take the bull by the horns and give it a shot , hire a car and just take it slowly. I have a partner who is a nervous passenger in the best of times, so here's hoping.

My dear old Dad used to say.... “If they can do it you can do it”! It helped me in a lot of situations when I lacked confidence. Good luck and enjoy the experience.
