I actually hear what you are saying, but from a slightly different perspective.

I voted remain, and on balance it would ‘probably’ would have been better (at least in the short to medium term, who really knows what a decade holds) if we stayed on board, I don’t moan about the democratic decision and will adhere to the decision that was gained from the 2016 ballot (&...

...; subsequent council/general election results) that reinforces the populations wish to exit the EU.

Brexit is far from perfect, far from answering all the questions and this state of affairs is not like to change anytime soon…. however, and this is important… as a nation a decision was made, a decision we will learn to accept and deal with……. What seems to fall on deaf ears is that this is democratic, by a democratic voice and a democratic process and that my friends is the one positive we should take away from all of this, not doing so has consequences than non of us wish to happen.

Things are seldom that clear

Capitalism without Socialism is Fascism

Socialism without capitalism is Communism

Neither of which any sensible minded person would wish to entertain. Let’s give the system we invented a damn good chance or travel down either of the above paths, I think most of us know where we wish to walk.

You are absolutely correct and it is just infuriating that this can't be accepted and if looked at impartially, welcomed.

It becomes impossible to follow a thread about petitions to the UK Government about the  90 day rule when people wander off down the regret road and even start talking about the NI protocol now.

Why don't they just start a new thread called I Hate Brexit and they can wallow in it with those of a similar mental anguish.

I agree, neither of the paths you describe are desirable.

However, to the best of my knowledge, neither of your two opening sentences can be attributed to one of the main proponents of Brexit.

My point being.... Brexit was a change of mind from the original vote to join the common market. If one cannot contemplate a change of mind regarding the vote to leave the EU is it not hypocritical?

More attempts to hijack a post about Petitions. I have made the point earlier that petitions, letters, moans or whatever are pointless if directed towards UK politicians.

The UK Parliament's responsibility is for all UK citizens and not for that minority of us with second homes and we need to realise that there is neither political nor economical benefit to them.

I discovered this today and wonder if anything has ever been directed to the EU petitions committee.

Interestingly it refers to "all European citizens" which of course includes UK.

Could I respectfully ask for no more complaints on Brexit and to get this question back on track. I for one will ignore such drivel.

Brexit debate will continue for the foreseeable future for many reasons least of all because there seems to be no discernible benefits from the decision. There are people that don’t want to hear that but until and if things improve for British people there will continue to be debate.

Just a couple of points.

I've not made any attempt to "hijack a thread", I've just answered a post by another contributor.

I'm sorry that you consider my post to be drivel. However, I won't be deleting it.

Why did you delete your previous post?

I wonder whether you found the sunlit uplands as you didn't let us know.

Hi Allank,

You ignored my earlier question, so I'll ask it again.  Have YOU found any Petitions to the EU or Spanish government?

Regards,

Kim

I didn't intentionally ignore it although I wasn't sure, given the inability of some people to forget Brexit, whether it was sarcastic.

Giving the benefit of the doubt the answer is no not yet but I had come to this post looking to see if someone else had.

I have posted this morning though a link to the EU petitions system which is interesting.

I will be looking more at that and will update for those actually interested in the actual question if I find anything.
