I’ve applied on line for the Spanish Digital Certificate but now have to verify my identity by attending an approved office with my passport etc. Is there an address in La Zenia/ Cabo Roig where I can do this?

Hi Ned,
Which type of digital certificate have you applied for? If it's a FNMT, I believe you need to go to the Agencia Tributaria (tax office). If you've applied for an ACCV, you need to go to your Ayuntamiento (town hall) - for your area, I think that will be the Orihuela Costa office at Playa Flamenca. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, you probably need to make an appointment first.
Kind regards,
Kim

Hi Kim
What is the difference between the digital signature certificates please?
We have begun the process of applying for residencia and numerous people have said we should get a digital signature!
Which would we be applying for and what overall purpose does it serve.
Many thanks
Sharon
I’ve applied for the FNMT certificate.

Hi Sharon,
Both a Digital Certificate and a Cl@ve allow you to access data held online about you by Spanish authorities, e.g. driving licence information, including infractions and penalties, at DGT (Trafico), tax returns at the AEAT (Agencia Tributaria tax office). They also allow you to carry out official transactions online, as they act as your digital 'signature'. Whilst Cl@ve appears to be easier, because you can apply online, I received an error message every time I tried - and advice from other members is that it is "slow and clunky" to use.
Digital Certificates can be applied for at different authorities, e.g. FNMT (Spain's Royal Mint and Public Printing authority), ACCV (Valencia's agency of Technology and Electronic Certification). You can use either to access your digital records, but the process for applying for each is different.
I applied for an ACCV digital certificate because these are processed by the Ayuntamiento (town hall) where you live, or own property in the Valencia autonomous region. With Covid-19 restrictions, you probably need to make an appointment at your Ayuntamiento, but if you're going there to sign onto the Padron, or get a recently dated copy of your Padron (needed for residency/TIE applications), it makes sense to do both at the same time. I emailed our Ayuntamiento to ask for an appointment to do both - it was quick and painless! 😀
Having a digital certificate allows you to start the residency application process online. This is especially important, because appointments at the National Police Extranjeros' (foreigners') office in Alicante are very hard to obtain at the moment. (You may be aware that, so long as UK citizens have officially registered their TIE application before 31 December 2020, they have until 30 June 2021 to complete the process.) You'll still need to attend the Alicante office to have your fingerprints taken, but having a digital certificate allows you to submit your application form and upload supporting documentation online, while you wait for a face to face appointment to become available.
Apologies for the lengthy explanation, but I thought it may be helpful to expand on the context behind my answer. Hope it helps 😄
Kind regards
Kim

Hi Gordon,
If you applied for an ACCV digital certificate, you go to Torrevieja town hall, but I believe you'll need to make an appointment beforehand.

Hi Wizzy,
I believe you need to go to the satellite office for Orihuela town hall at Playa Flamenca. I thinkyou need to make an appointment first, so click on this link and then scroll down to "Appointments":

Hi Kim, thanks for your reply, I am applying for residency for the first time and wanted to go through it with the digital certificate and that’s where I went and was turned down saying we don’t do this here
