We have a place in La Zenia, had it for 5 years now and really love the area and the people there. Due to this  COVID pandemic the wife and I have not been over for quite some time, not our choice, just the way it is. Hopefully once Spain starts welcoming back visitors from the UK, and when we are permitted to fly from the UK we will be back. But it’s looking hopeful now with the way the vaccination process is progressing here. I am generally interested to know how La Zenia and the surrounding area have survived. Have there been many establishments fallen by the wayside, or will they still be there when we eventually see brighter days. What about all the bars and restraints in La Zenia, all of which we know quite well, or did. I have seen that Paddies is still not open, probably not economical to do so at present. But what about the smaller places such as the Randy Lep and so on.  Hopefully they can all survive, ride out the storm. Really looking forward to getting back there, we miss it.

Hi

Yes the area is getting by ok it seems. Bars and restaurants opened again last week,  terraces only and not full capacity yet, til 3pm only .4 people per table.

The Irish bar on the market road hasn't reopened yet, but a lot of them have. Since the bars reopened,  it hasnt stopped raining :) but sun due again at the end of this week.

As said above, the bars etc are open again, but only until 6pm (I think 3pm was a typo). They are, of course desperate to get back to normal - some have entertainment in the afternoons, for which it is essential to book a table. However, the police are making it difficult! The Local was forced to close early for alleged breaking of covid rules whilst the band were just about to start their second set.

Paddy's stayed closed because the weather forecast was bad, making it a bit pointless to open up (only outdoor areas are allowed to open right now). One of the barmaids lives next door to us, I must ask her for an update!

LA Xenia beach bar has been open for some time, serving takeaway beer! (You can take it away to your deckchair 10 yards away!)

Cheers!
