I have a paid up funeral plan with Golden Leaves, paid just over 2000 euros but that was 14 years ago.Avalon also do a similar plan so if you look in the local English language newspapers you will get the details.

Hi

Iberian Funeral Plans offer one similar to Golden Leaves and is transferable to the UK or any other EU country at 3695€ with a 500€ deposit and the rest can be paid monthly for 5 years interest free.

Try Caren at www.iberianinsuranceservicesesp.com

Forgot to add,my Golden Leaves plan operates in one EU country(supposedly you would make that where you live) & the UK as well.

Took out Golden Leaves 17 months ago. 4100 euros. 500 deposit the rest paid by monthly DD

The money goes into a Trust so if GL went bust for some reason, the money is still ringfenced.

[for four grand you get a cardboard box, a bonfire on the beach, and a get well soon card!]

Wow Steve, looks like I am going to get a good send off  via Golden Leaves! Just sorry I won't be around long enough to enjoy the show.Sounds a bit like the old Viking burial ceremonies up in the Orkney & Shetland Islands.Being an "oldie" myself I find my friends & family members are popping off regularly.Recently in England I attended 2 funerals, very expensive but after the "despatch" of the loved one,we went on to a"celebration of their life" trip to a local hostelry. On reflexion the cardboard box on the beach bonfire sounds OK for me,but a bit late I think for the get well soon card.

If you want the cheapest option, then that is to donate your body to science, which costs €1000.

More details if requested.

Hi Pauline, I'm stuck for time again, so can't do a detailed write-up, but look at this page of Elche Hospital and follow the links on the page:

http://cyborg.edu.umh.es/en/donaciones/

The actual donation is free, but it costs €1000 to transport the body.

I'll do a Jim's Guide when I've time.
