Driving a Uk car
How long could I keep a uk registered car in Spain, if I was to return it to the uk a a couple of times a year how could the authorities check?.....I think you know what I'm asking. 😉

Thanks peter, some good points. I am not resident, but frequently visit out holiday home (not longer than 2 weeks at a time at the moment). I was thinking more of buying a cheepie, bringing it to Spain and leaving at the airport instead of keep paying for car hire.

It surprises me a little that so many ex pats try to get round or even ignore the law! Would you do it back home? Maybe not!
Don't under estimate the Spanish police. They don't check every single car every day but they do see this as a means of raising revenue.
Pete's advice and the links he posted are well worth following because as he points out, a roadside check - you may get away with it, probably not - but a major prang they will make it very painful for you. Take the risk at your peril.
If you leave your car at the airport then you will not be insured unless you get the insurance companies consent

SAGA car insurance covers you as standard for up to six months in Europe
Not if it is left at the airport
I never said it would be
That's what I said ( I am an Insurance agent )
