Hi, has anyone used temporary car insurance cover in the UK for use of driving a relative’s car with a Spanish licence. Also confused to the driving licence number to use on the websites for quotes. Is it “No 9” on the Licence, with an 8 digit number? Thanks

Spanish driving licence number is either your DNI if you are a Spanish National or your NIE Foreigners' Identity Number.
I have no experience of buying temporary car insurance but you could always try this link:

Or, perhaps it may be cheaper to have your friend/relative have you put on their insurance for whatever period you intend to drive in the UK?

You have to make sure they allow non residents to take the cover - many will not cover you (check the small print)
I have used tempcover who have a specific short term insurance and I use my NIE number

When we go back to UK we use son inlaws car
He just notifies his insurers and we are added to his policy. Cost about £50.00.
