Translator for UK Bank statements
Hi,
I need a sworn translator to translate a few bank statements for me for my residency meeting in 2 weeks. anyone got any suggestions? thanks
What a nonsense, a bank statement is a simple list of funds in and funds out written in plain numbers and with only the former being of any real significance or importance in a residency application so what on earth is the value of a sworn translation and what's even to translate anyway?

Hi Terry,
Have you been advised to get UK bank accounts translated, because I would be very surprised if the Police at the Extranjero office would be remotely interested in them. Of course I may be wrong here, but it's your Spanish account they're interested in surely?
Genuinely interested,
Steve
Steve,
My solicitor said my UK accounts need translating. My Spanish account is obviously fine but I have the money to purchase my house in the UK account so need to prove my funds. I find it a bit strange but my solicitor told me so I'm doing it. I dont fancy getting turned away if they were that way inclined!

That sounds logical Terry. Good luck.
It's interesting what different criteria different people have been given. I presented nil monthly income but a decent fixed deposit in a Spanish bank which, to be fair, could have been repatriated the very next day. But was accepted without a murmur up here in Denia.
QED they make it up as they go along
Best regards, Steve
I know, I didn’t want to spend money on translating but maybe my solicitor knows something I don’t? Which is likely! I think it might be because I don’t own or rent a property here yet. I’m just staying at a friends house while I’m in the process of buying. Maybe my situation is a bit strange. Oh well I’ve sorted it now and off to Alicante on 20th.
I’ll update after my meeting, I’m sure it will be ok !!

Hi Terry
Please could you find out if a South African person can apply at the police station you are going to in Alicante.
I will be arriving on 9 November to apply for residency and I am renting in punta prima.
With much appreciation.
