Hi all,

Im probably in the same boat as lots of other people, as I am in UK but have a property in Spain, that I can't get to!

Just wondering about the implications of not paying my water, electricity and internet bills, until such time as I can actually get out to my property. Has anyone any experience of doing this? Im guessing they would probably hit me with huge reconnection fees (and possibly bills for the unpaid months!) at such time as I got them reconnected.

Hi Paul2109,

You're correct about the utilities, it would be extremely unwise not to pay your electricity and water bills - they'll still come after you for the unpaid bills and if they take you to court, the situation could end up a lot worse. Reconnection charges won't be a problem - if you're blacklisted!

On the upside, so long as you're not currently under contract for your internet service, you could change to a "switch on/switch off" service or cancel it altogether.

Hi Kimmy11. Thanks for your reply, I guess I will keep my connections intact! Tucked myself up a bit with the internet. After the 2 year contract was up, I changed from tv and internet, to just internet. They sneakily made that into another 2 year contract, so im stuck for another 18months or so☹

All our bill's are paid by direct debit so all I do is top up the bank account to cover Bill's that would be due. I.e iberdrola, internet, car insurance, local taxes. Have you a solicitor who could help you
