Hi, just seen your post so you may already have got it sorted. If not, I can personally recommend Grays car rental, based in Playa Flamenca. They will pick you up at the airport, take you to your car in in Playa Flamenca, then return you to the airport after your car hire. The price will be all inclusive, just have a look at their reviews, no hidden charges and no rip off’s like most of the Airport based car hire companies. Enjoy!

I have no doubt that they are a good Company but I wouldn't go this way, you are paying around €100 more for the transfers.
I would use a Company who delivers your car to you at the airport and then you return it there.

That is your opinion, but I can’t see how you can say it would cost 100 euro extra. I based my decision on a bit of research, then made my decision. Firstly, I didn’t want to hire a car from any airport based car hire company, a lot of them have a well deserved very bad reputation. So I decided to choose a locally based company with good reviews and good reputation.
Additionally, I didn’t want to drive from Alicante airport and then back again for my flight. I checked on how much it would cost to hire a car from quite a few of the local car hire companies, just for hire, not including pick up and drop off at airport. That would have additionally incurred a return journey by Taxi.
The result was, once I had deducted 160 euro for a taxi from the cost of car hire from Gray’s car hire which included pick up and return, it was the way to go. It was the cheapest and I had peace of mind by using a Locally based company with great reviews. I was not pushing any particular car hire provider, just trying to help based on personal experience, and research.

You are quite right, it was just my opinion, we all want to do what is best for us.
I would agree with you, I wouldn't touch the airport operators with a barge pole but I would use Magnum or Lara Cars who are off airport operators who quote a price and stick to it, reliable and friendly too.
But if you didn't want to drive from the airport then that makes a difference.
After 20 years of this hassle I gave up and bought my own car and pay an annual fee to park it at the airport, no more hassle, no more shuttle buses, land, through customs and in my car in 30 mins and on my way.

Yea, like I said I have no affiliation to any particular car hire company and therefore no reason to support them. I can only speak as I find. It’s up to folks to research, but some assistance based on experience hopefully helps them. Great having your own car based at the airport and not needing to hire a car, we’ll done. Not everyone has that necessity or luxury, they just want to hire a car now and then, and some advice based on hiring a car. Cheers.

Agree, having your own car isn't going to suit everyone, depends on how many times you can visit Spain.
In my case it also helps my family, my Daughter and family hated the car hire experience, they were delighted when Dad bought the car, only an older one btw.
Anyone over 25 can drive the car, insurance in Spain insures the car and not the individual so all the family gains, only the mug Dad loses 😂
Anyway, good to share opinions and experiences without falling out 👍
