Can’t find my nie certificate but found my nif number.
I’ve read that they’re the same number but want to make sure as I want to enroll my daughters in school and rent an apartment. This needs to be done ASAP.
I can get a duplicate at a later date.

Both are the same number NIE is the personal version. NIF is the business version.
i.e:
On personal stuff I put NIE: n12345678a
On Spanish Business stuff I put NIF: n12345678a
My EU VAT registration is the same number with ES in front ESn12345678a

Can anyone help? We have lost our NIE numbers. I’ve tried the bank management company SUMA etc and it seems they have all got our passport numbers not NIE numbers. We got them when we bought our apartment 13 years ago and although we don’t need them immediately the cable companies meant who fitted WiFi are asking for it. Any ideas on best (and cheapest)way to get them? Thanks Helen

Have you looked at the escritura for the property? I'd expect both passport and NIE numbers to be on that.

Thanks all our docs just have the passport number but there’s a mortgage on it so maybe the mortgage company can help. Thanks I’ll try that
