Hi dear Forum

We have a house in vall de lliber for some years now. But we don’t have any GSM signal. Also it seems an antenna will not be installed in the next years. We have the most expensive contract with Eurona for satellite internet, but the quality is very very poor. Can’t do Zoom, whats app or Teams calls without a delay of 1-3 sec at least. We can’t stream eg Nettflix either.

We know we most of the time love the beauty outside in this magnificent valley, but we have our moments to watch TV or a good series.

Also I would like to stay more and more in this case, so I am able to do my work from home here

Hope anyone in this forum has the magic solution and would love to hear this and get in contact with the right persona

thank you in advance

Hi

We use a company called IPV6 informática, don’t know if they cover your area but worth a call, they installed a very small satellite dish and we have gone from 20 to 100mb.

"Can’t do Zoom, whats app or Teams calls without a delay of 1-3 sec at least. We can’t stream eg Nettflix either. " - that is one of the limitations of satellite internet, as the data has to travel 35,800 kilometers to the satellite and then 35,800 kilometers back from the satellite to the ground station. And that causes the delay and buffering. And one of the downsides of satellite internet.

And why Elon and starlink are doing low earth orbit satellites, which is approx 560 kms. So the distance and "latency" is a lot lower. Downside is that it is expensive, for both end users and starlink, as they need many more satellites to cover areas...60 satellite per launch...as of May 2022 they had 2200 satellites...

Solutions could be as simple as rebooting your router, making sure the connections to and from your dish are good, the cable is not deteriorated, that you are getting a good signal from the satellites...

Or as you do not have 4g coverage in your area, perhaps you have signals from one of the wireless internet companies that operate in the area, assuming you have good signals from one of their masts.

yess your conclusion is the one I also took, but was hoping for a cheaper solution

Anyhow have ordered today Starling for Rv’s. So wait till I receive the package. Down side more expensive, but positive when we are not here we don’t pay the monthly fee and in the end even cheaper than Eurona

So very curious if and how good this low latency internet works

have my fingers crossed 🤞🏾 🍀

I'd be very surprised if a 4g router coupled with a pair of cross polorised yagi antennas didn't pull in a useful signal from one of the main operators.

We live here, out in the campo outside Lliber. The functioning choices in the area seem to be either Aeromax or Holawifi. Both claim to be fantastic, we have Aeromax, friends have Hola. In all honesty, they are as good and bad as each other, although I know that with Aeromax one cam allegedly elect a faster speed, obviously at a faster price!

Some of the problems we have are the reach of the signal, being effectively in a basin surrounded by mountains doesn’t help. The main difficulties are the effects of the weather, the satellite does not like, in order, rain, storms, thunder, lightning, hot sunshine, clouds, wind and any other weather condition you can name. It will come and go as it sees fit, but is relatively ok most of the time. But not so long ago we had no internet from Friday evening until Monday afternoon, although to be fair , that was exceptional. But it is also the reason we don’t have a streaming service as I can’t be bothered to cope with unstable signal and the inevitable delays, buffering etc.

Have installed Starlink today. Mennnn what a speed and easy set up

Have canceled my Canal digital and Eurona subscriptions

So still a bit more expensive but great speed. Can easy watch netflix amd whatsapp calls.

Very happy,

Disadvantage, impossible to contact a Starlink Client service.and have to find out how i can get cables from roof into my house. Plugs are ready fused to cables. And plugs are quite big

anyhow never had this speed at our gorgeous place
