Hi, Lliber is a lovely little village with Moorish houses. Their Patronal Fiestas are in August, when they close the road running through the village. If you type "Lliber" in the search box at the top of the page, there are some useful posts about it, including from a forum member who lives in the campo in that area.

Lliber is not really close to the beach as such and in all honesty I think you would need to hire a car if you are staying there. Taxis of course are available, but I think mainly through online Radio Taxi services. It would be about a 20 or 25 minute frive to nearest places with beaches as such, Javea, Calpe, Moraira etc.

There is very little in the village, a couple of bars which have different closing hours, one may have lunch, but am dubious re evening supper! A small baker, butcher and general small shop. Couple of hairdressers. No post office. Nearest small town about 1 km away, Jalon/Xalo. A Farmacia. That’s about it! Jalon has good restaurants and bars and most things you’d want.

I personally wouldn’t dream of coming here without a vehicle. The village is, as has been said, a very pretty little place and sitting in the main square with a drink is a delight, but one cannot spend all one’s time doing that!

Hi Stephanie thank you for your reply and yes we were looking to hire a car which currently is a small fortune and do not intend in travelling to much just a day trip to the beach  which will still be cheaper then hiring a car as we intend to spend most of our time at the villa which has everything we need. Can you clarify which is the closest beach the village I was told Benissa? Is there any taxi service in lliber sqaure that we could use or is it best to do this online?

There is no taxi service in the square. There are ‘radio taxi’ services online, usually a group of drivers allied to a central organizing office. They are reliable and honest, but don’t expect too much English on this area! Benissa may well be the closest beach, we never go so can’t say with certainty anything about it. There is a lovely outdoor pool down in Jalon. Your nearest supermarket is Jalon and the market is on Tuesday, there isn’t one in Lliber. Since Covid, market much reduced. There is a market in Benissa on Saturday morning. Try looking st Centauro car hire, Spanish company, usually has very reasonable offers online. We used them for years, although I have been reading that car hire has jumped in price dramatically. Anything else please ask. Kr Ste

Thanks Stephanie I will look Radio taxis up does anyone have an email or number for them? I cannot seem to locate online? I have heard Jalon is lovely and closeby am I right in thinking it is around 25minutes walk from Lliber? We do like to walk on holiday so this would be ideal.

Yes, it would be round 25 mins from centre Lliber, but do be aware of the heat. You really don’t want to be walking around more than you have to and certainly not with shopping! I walk most days, we are miles  out in the campo, for about an hour and I go no later than 6.30 am.

Taxis, well From what I can find they are mainly airport transfers. However, here are some phone numbers, but don’t know how reliable they will be, Spanish yellow pages bears no resemblance to what you may think! I am sorry, I was using radio taxis generically to describe a service type.

Asociación de Radio Taxis Local de Benissa 0034 965731407

Taxi Star 0034 680773750

Taxi Jose Romero 0034 636484838

The last two numbers are mobile numbers, so presumably direct to owner/ driver.

I will see if I can find any more.

Taxi Guillen 0034 639654471

Taxi Benissa 674616725

There is also a very small independent local car hire firm in Jalon. It’s through the town on the road towards Alcalali I think called Zebra cars or similar. Some friends used it intermittently when having car problems and said it was good and not horrendously costly.

www.zebrarent.es I think that’s it!

Hope this helps

Sorry, and as an addendum to earlier, the Valencian Public Health Authority has just issued a warning/ reminder to keep out of the sun between noon and five pm.
