Hi, I am a 66 year old widow.  The day before lockdown I viewed a lovely house in Dream Hills.  Is this a good area to live, make new friendships and start a new life?

I don't live there but I would think about where the nearest facilities are, especially if I became unable to drive for whatever reason.
The nearest bus stop, pharmacy, doctor, supermarket, bars, restaurants and the beach and how easy and expensive trips to and from the airport may be. Also the closest branch of your bank to withdraw cash as other banks charge at ATMs.
Take a virtual walk on google maps streetview and imagine how it will be in July and August when community pools will be at their busiest and noisiest. Find out how much the community charges are and read the rules.
To live year round you will need a decent heating system as there is very little insulation in Spanish houses. I understand that air con on heating mode is cheaper than running it on cooling.
There are many social groups to meet people and make friends.
A recent post (maybe on Talk Quesada, I can't remember) was from someone, having moved into a hilly area, having concerns about how they would get to the shops etc up and down the hills. I imagine they fell in love with the house and the views but when you are living here full-time, reality sinks in.

Thank you Cheryl for your advice.

Hi Grahame, thank you for your comments.  Like you I rented accommodation for 5 weeks in La Zenia/Cabo Roig area.  This was my third time visiting the area and just fell in love with it.  I love being able to walk everywhere (not a driver) and exploring on my own.  This would be a holiday home for myself, family and friends.

Getting to and from the airport will be a major consideration. I thought as you said about starting a new life that you would be living here permanently but if it is just for holidays, your friends and family can stay there for free but no charges should be made otherwise it will come under the rules and regulations for a holiday let.
The main problem I would see in letting friends and family stay there is the cost of air conditioning and who will clean it to your standards and wash and change the linen and towels at the end of their stay.

Definitely will not be renting out.  Probably out in Spain same time as family and friends
