Have you been able to detect where the smell is coming from, toilet, bidet, basin or shower? Ours was the shower trap not fitted correctly so open airflow to the septic tank. Run water into bidet if you don´t use it as trap may have dried out.

Thank you Cheryl . I think the smell is from bidet and shower drain. Bidet I never used so  could be dried out in there.

Flush all your drains with very hot soapy water a couple of times, then use a strong disinfectant and/or bleach to cleanse. when you go back home, if you have a good reliable neighbour, perhaps they could pop in a couple of times and do the same for you.

Hi we have this in our hardly used spare bathrooms. I run the taps in the two showers and sinks for 10 mins each week, the flush both toilets. The traps dry out, this clears the problem. Hope you find the solution to the problem. Happy new year to you 🥂

We found this when we didn't use the villa very much. The drains smell and need to run water into the sinks etc. Not usually the toilet as there is water in the pan, creating a water trap. I found that people say the traps dry out. I actually found there are no actual traps. I modified my pipework to create a water trap in the form of a U bend. This sorted the problem but still happens if not occupied for a while.

further to my earlier post, you normally find that any water that is trapped, will over time if not moved will start to stagnate, due to bacteria in the drains, you could also flush your drains before you leave and use a strong disinfectant and/or bleach to help kill off the bacteria, but if possible, a helpful neighbour is always a godsend.

Hi, I find olive oil helps, just a teaspoon in all of the traps inside and outside if you have outside shower, kitchen when leaving, this helps to stop the water evaporating.
