Bottled gas heaters are very cheap to buy and no unseen bills being run up.

You may also want to consider plug-in electric storage heaters to make use of the cheaper night time rates.

If you've got an electric hot water tank it would be well worth putting a timer on the plug so that it only heats up during the cheaper periods.

Bottled gas portable heaters are not designed to be primary or sole heating solutions, lot's of condensation and potentially detrimental to anyone with any sort of breathing impairment.

Not necessarily that cheap to run either.

Definitely regard as a last option as opposed to a first.

Hi I’m not often in Spain for winter but when I am I have plenty of rugs down on those cold tiles! I have an archway from my living room to the bedrooms,I have put a curtain rail in the hall side of the arch and have a nice thick curtain that I pull on to help keep the heat in the living room. I just tie the curtain back after winter.
I used a mix of aircon and electric heaters, I also have a bottled gas fire for use in emergency i.e power cut. I find the gas fire warms up the room quickly but the condensation is terrible.

Regards

Anne

I have new air con units which are very efficient and economic room heaters.  I close  the doors to any rooms not in use and use plenty of  rugs on the tiled floors and fleece throws on beds and settees.  I also have a heated electric towel rail in the bathroom.

Many thanks. I will try my air con units and see how much they cost
