Old sat dish.
Could some tell me if I can take down an old sat dish I have just had fibre optic broadband installed but not sure if the old dish is connected to it in some way. Thanks.

Hi there
Without knowing the full facts I will make a stab in the dark and say that your Fibre and 'Sat dish' may not be connected.
Fibre will be for your internet, as a minimum possibly TV etc as well, depending on what arrangements you have in place
The Sat dish could be internet or could be for satellite TV?
You could always post a photo and that would help us identify what you have. That would be better than one of us simply assuming and saying yes, take it down.
Hope it helps

It doesn't really I am afraid. I would not want to mislead you.
A picture paints a thousand words!
This post that was quoted has been deleted.
We have had a tv ad broad band package so I think the dish is redundant.

Look at from the other end, what if anything is the downlead connected to?
If nothing then there is the answer to what it's contributing to your new fiber connection.

It wont be linked to your fibre, but if its from your old internet subscription the provider usually asks for it back. I had Icloud before and had to take the dish and black box back to them, as there was a deposit on them.
Hi Leco115, I am not a Sat Dish expert, not by any means, and others will have much more in depth knowledge.
Just a suggestion, but how about temporarily switching the Power off at your main fusebox opening the lid on the connection box at the dish, taking a clear photo of the wiring connections ,disconnect the said wiring from its terminals and fixing the bare ends into a suitable indepentant terminal block ,then restore the Power to your fusebox
If all working ok at internet and at TV, leave wiring at dish disconnected for a few days to be sure all is still fine. If problems are experienced at any time after the disconnecting of the wiring ,then simply switch off power again, reconnect the wiring at dish referring to the photo you have earlier taken, and restore power.
If problem now rectified then you need to leave the dish in situ , if no problems experienced after the few days of the wiring having been disconnected then I would say it's safe to remove the dish .

I have only just seen the photo, apologies if you posted in your original message.
My conclusion is that this dish is NOT one required for internet services.
It is likely that this is, therefore, providing satellite TV services.
That said, you have not indicated if you have Satellite TV in your home? If you do not, then you can have it removed. (NOTE - It may be for FREESAT and not for other subscribed satellite services!)
Other have mentioned you can check connections to your TV, trace the cable if possible and see if that provides any answers?
As per the post from LeckyLes, please make sure that if you decide to remove the dish by yourself then you do so safely. My note about safety most definitely extends to the access required to remove the dish, plus the safety of any property or persons below where the dish is installed!
Hope it helps
