Morning all - we have bought ourselves a little place in Los Balcones and are planning for our first visit when allowed. Although furnished, all the "essentials" are missing such as plates, knives and forks and a kettle (for starters), maybe towels and bedding, the list is endless!  My question is, having never been there, is the local Carrefour a big one that will have those items on their shelves or will I need to go further afield - all suggestions and advice gratefully received please? We don't plan on having a car so somewhere within walking distance or a sensible cab fare only please? Thanks, Sean

Bonjour Sean...Yes, Carrefour stock all of the items that you need...But beware?

Directly BEHIND Carrefour, there is a 'Chino' store, of which keeps EVERYTHING at a fraction of the cost, and they are ALL good products.

Just have a quick look around in this massive shop, and I'm sure that you will find almost everything that you need...

Hope this helps...Good luck...🅱️🍽⛾.

Thank you very much for the info, might save me a pretty penny - I didn't know anything was cheaper than Carrefour lol!

If you do need to go further afield, the E public transport Buses operate between Los Balcones and Torrevieja every day, a good service and experience once you get to know the timetable = every 40 minutes, price 1.50 Euro. You need to be a resident to obtain a local citizen bus pass, There are other routes you can experiment with taking you to other local places from Torrevieja, Enjoy, stay safe and healthy my friend.

Hi Trivass

I would have suggested IKEA, Murcia, about an hour away. I know you don’t drive, but, in my opinion, as a one stop shop, particularly for new buyers that just want to “get going”, it can’t be beaten. You can get almost everything you want, at very reasonable prices. Then, as you see things you really want, you can replace. Might be worth exploring your options. 🤪🥂

I do drive but the truth is its a holiday home and I am partial to a beer or two hence no car! Thank you for the advice though, we will see how it all pans out!  Sean

Congratulations! We live in Los Balcones, and are very happy here. There is a very nice Chino - “Max”, on the main road as you go out of Los Balcones (toward the motorway). That’s probably in walking distance, so also great for most bits and pieces, though I would probably buy electricals and nice quality bedding/towels from somewhere like Carrefour. Good luck, and enjoy the adventure!
