Hello

Looking at holiday home potentials in the area and some of the estate agents say properties have sea views which are important to me.

Are they being realistic with their descriptions of sea views for properties in the area?

If it's hit and miss would appreciate guidance on what roads or areas would be best for the views.

Changing location from the East of Malaga and realise there is a big difference in geography, type of housing etc but was wondering if there are any areas that have a traditional Spanish feel about them with small local bars / cafes where people sit, chat and watch away the day? My Spanish is quite good so can be an area with a small expat community where Spanish language is essential.

I am just starting my research online now so lots of questions but once had my second vaccination and we are allowed to travel I will be coming to the area to look around and a bit of knowledge in advance will be a great help.

Many thanks for your help.

Paul

An estate agent will you promise whatever gives him a chance to make you pay a "reservation fee" or similar. Prices are exorbitant comparing with what is paid a few miles inland. As a guideline: in the La Manga area the average price is around 650 Eur/sq. m.

Los Balcones is a km or two inland, and on a hill - as such, some of the properties will have sea views to the east, between the land and the sky, as Mr Fawlty once said! Some will also have a view of the pink salt lake towards Torrevieja.

I've never actually lived in Los Balcones, but have lived nearby for many years, and I'd say it's largely an expat community,  you'll hear people talking in English. However, there is a school nearby, so there must be Spanish somewhere! I'd also say that LB is a quiet area.

If you were to live a little closer to Torrevieja, you'd hear far more people gossipping in Spanish.

What is it that is attracting you to the area, away from Malaga?

Cheers

Steve

Thanks for your reply.

Los Balcones is one of a number of areas I have looked at so will consider other areas closer to Torrevieja. My Spanish is good intermediate so I prefer to immerse myself with the local language and culture. I will be spending a week there in late September if travel is allowed to look round.

Simple answer to your question: Value for money and the 90 in 180 day rules being enforced now. Nerja is an amazing place with the property market going crazy with Scandinavians paying silly prices so I'm taking advantage of that. Only need a holiday home so value for money comes into it and more flights to alicante than malaga from my local airport
