Covid Booster Jabs for Over 50's

Hi,

I was led to believe that I had to make an appointment for the Covid Booster jab at the Torrevieja Salud when it's time for the over 50's (I understand that they're doing the over 60's at the moment.

However a friend of mine who is over 60 received a text with her appointment at Torrevieja Hospital and now I'm wondering if I'll receive a text when the time comes as I did for my first 2 jabs?

Does anyone have any information they could share to shed light on this?

To be honest there has been a lot of confusion regarding the booster roll out in Spain, and even within regions health centres have been doing their own thing.

There was a total lack of clarity around whether residents needed to book an appointment directly with their HC or wait to be contacted.

Thankfully the EU decreeing that the Covid passport would only be valid for 9 months from the date of the last vaccination put a much needed rocket up Spains backside, otherwise they would be running the risk of residents not being able to go to bars, restaurants or travel within the EU. It looks like the health authorities have finally got themselves in gear as I had a text on boxing day for my booster on 4th Jan at Torrevieja hospital, whereas my husband who booked his at our health centre wont get his booster until 15th Feb make of that what you will.

Yes as stated, the health authority have now got their act together and reopened vaccination centres. So text messages are being sent out again.

We’re with Guardamar and had made appointments for our boosters for 25th Jan.

Received texts on Christmas Day with appointments on 30 December

The building that’s used by Guardamar has been commissioned for jabs until the end of January, so I imagine all the third doses will have been administered by then.
