I wonder if anyone can help. For 20 years we have had people dump rubbish on waste land oppose the road on which we live. Sometimes its so bad that we cannot access our own drive. It happens mainly in the early hours of the morning. I have written to the parks department, the Mayor, reported the matter numerous times to the Policia Local but of course nothing happens. Torrevieja spends a fortune on huge trucks regularly hauling the stuff away when a sign warning of prosecution followed by one or two prosecutions would no doubt solve the problem and save fortunes.

I am now about to write to the King, every MEP, the Prime Minister and copy every media in the country but before I do does anyone have any idea how this can be stopped. I tried to upload a photograph but the format makes it a waste of time and it shows very little.

Have you contacted your local councillor, perhaps we’re lucky but in my area, we can contact the council departments direct and they take notice. Our local councillor will respond to problems within 24 hours.

This is as far as I know the responsibility of the Department of Urban Cleaning (aseo urbano), unless a private matter (!). I am not sure if these phonenumbers are still valid, but couldn't find otherwise:

"Those who wish to contact the department by phone can do so by calling the phone number 673 004 814, where they can report all kinds of incidents that have to do with glass containers, (yellow) recycling containers, organic matter containers, request for new containers or transfer or removal of existing ones, communication of all kinds of incidents with the cleaning of sidewalks, cleaning of roads, street cleaning, cleaning of beaches, incidents on furniture and belongings abandoned on public roads.

Finally, the mayor of Urban Cleaning, Carmen Gómez, recalls that the telephone number for the free collection of furniture and appliances is 966 70 23 90."

I’m presuming the land is what we all call scrubland or is it owned by a builder?  If owned by a builder, you could try to contact him. Clearly, people in your area see this as a place to dump their rubbish. Could you start by parking a car on it?  Perhaps fence off the part closest to you and plant some fast growing shrubs. Encourage the dumping further away from your property where it won’t distress you as much. None of us would like this experience. People walk their dogs over the scrubland near us and I’ve seen rubble dumped there too.
