Hi

I am looking into obtaining my digital certificate. I have read Jim's guide but still need some clarity. On Jim's guide he says to take your ID to get verified - Residencia (Or NIE will do) So my question is do I need to be a resident before I can obtain my digital certificate. I have a NIE number as I own a property in Los Balcones and I am moving to Spain in the next few months.

Thanks

Helen

I am a non resident. I've obtained 2 digital certificates: one at SUMA in El Campello and one at the tax office in Alicante. In each case I've just had to complete the online form at the certificate providers website and then visit SUMA or Tax office (depending on your requirements) to provide identity. I am a non resident so merely needed to show my passport and NIE plus the form provided by the certificate provider. I didn't need to book an appointment at SUMA (office for local tax/ATV) but I did at the Hacienda office in Alicante.

My wife and I did ours last week - in support of payment of income tax.

We had pre-arranged appointments at the Town Hall. We presented our Residency Cards and Spanish photo driving licences
