See the attached posted today on the Schengen News:

https://schengen.news/brits-heading-to-france-warned-of-delays-from-november-1/

Apologies in advance to anyone who has already posted this info..........................

It is also reporting that The Netherlands are considering imposing border controls among "immigration concerns" . With several EU countries now imposing border controls, Germany and France included, does the Schengen free movement zone still exist?

Anybody would think that there are going to be toll like barriers across all internal country border roads of the Schengen Area reading these articles. The truth is Police Forces in these countries have said it would be impossible to Police these borders and you won't see any difference as you drive your usual route . You can come across a Police checkpoint in the normal run of any everyday journey as you travel throughout the Schengen area so why all this alarm.

Bee,

from the Schengen news article -

-----------

:In its notification to the EU Commission, France said that it was reinstating border controls in an attempt to offer more internal security amid increased terrorist threats and irregular migration attempts.

The controls will take place with all six Schengen neighbouring countries – Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy.

This means that all non-EU citizens who want to enter the territory of France from one of the above-mentioned countries will have to undergo controls.

------------

That sounds like to me that they intend to start manning border points again. I recently (August)  drove from France into Switzerland by car close to Geneva, the boder points are still there but only the Swiss posts were manned.

Anyone coming into France from the UK via ferry/train gets checked anyhow so possibly not that much nmore of a delay at that crossing point. We'll just have to wait I see what happens from Nov 1st.
