I read the article below in El Pais. When you can get back to Spain something to watch out for!

https://english.elpais.com/spanish_news/2021-05-11/in-bid-to-reduce-road-deaths-spain-rolls-out-30kmh-speed-limit-on-most-urban-streets.html

If traffic speeds around Los Dolses are anything to go by the speeding fines they could potentially gather will help reduce the coronavirus debt significantly!

Saw three Guardia Civil cars parked in Villamartin today, it was either a quiet day in the 🐷 house or they were after drivers exceeding the speed limit. 🙂

Well at least there will be less chance of getting knocked off them now! There are parts of London that have 20mph speed liimits and it seems like standing still (though to be fair with the amount of traffic in London 20mph can be fast at times).

Even my poor little Francesca (Fanny) Fiat can no longer make it out of 3rd gear without fear of handcuffs - well, wheel clamps! 😄  Hubby says his cruise control doesn't engage below 50 kph! 😂

Hi Aitch,

I've been trawling the internet for a 1-page graphic that explains the new rules - this is the best I could find, because it includes examples of 'before' and 'after'.  You my want to pack a copy in your suitcase!

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kim, good info.

I hope my cruise control will work down to 20kph, that's 12.5mph if my maths is right, more like a bike ride. I saw on another post that people were questioning could they overtake bicycles, it's more likely to be the other way round!

This hasn't been thought through at all. Most cars will struggle to get out of 3rd gear. Automatics will have a real problem. So up goes your fuel consumption, up goes noise levels and up goes pollution. As much as i hate them, if the Spanish want to get drivers to stop speeding (and some twats absolutely FLY up our road), to reduce deaths put up speed cameras. They work and existing speed limits will - mainly - be obeyed.
